Do you have a copy of Margaret's death certificate? If so is she shown as "wife of" or "widow of"? That will narrow the search window.

Assuming he stayed in the Bridgend District & the informant knew his age there's this one:
Dec 1917
Williams Richard 67 Bridgend 11a 773
or
Mar 1933
Williams Richard 81 Bridgend 11a 1176

There seems to be a photo on ancestry of the grave of the Richard Williams who died Dec 8 1917 (born 1850 - but on the 1851 census there is a 5 months old Richard Williams in the right area, so with every other census it would suggest a 1851 birth)
In the same grave is his wife Margaret Evans, who died in 1924 - they lived in Tyla Gar, Pontyclun (buried in Llantrisant Church)

I think I am on the right track. I have a bible in my possession that was returned to Richard Williams, Llantrisant. The bible I believe was printed in 1715 (The first translation into Welsh).
Richard Williams & Margaret Evans had a lot of relatives that went to the United States.
My bible was on a boat sunk South of San Francisco at the end of the American Civil War.
I believe my bible is one of the original produced by Peter Williams.
