Hi
Me again there's a Will for Mary Hinton 1820 on FindMyPast which names her children Mary, James,Thomas ,John, Henry and Winifred wife of Samuel Moreton  and stepmother Mary Dicken widow.

thank you :)
I've looked at this will and Mary mentions a son Thomas but he can't be the Thomas who died 1843 aged 75, as Mary Hinton who died 1820 is buried in Ightfield age 66 so born 1853/1854

I give to my said wife for her own use. I give the lands, hereditaments and real
estate devised to me by my late great uncle James Hinton and all other the
real estate of which I have power to dispose to my father Thomas Hinton
during his life and after his death to my Uncle James Hinton his heirs and
assigns and I charge my last ----------- real estate with the sum of four
hundred pounds to be paid at the end of six calendar months to my said wife
for her own benefit and direct that if my said father shall pay her that sum
he shall have a charge for the same on the said real estate devised to me by
my said Great Uncle James Hinton like a mortgage In ordinary ------ I
appoint my said wife Mary Hinton  and my said father Thomas Hinton
Executors thereof and hereto set mu hand the twenty sixth day of October one

hereto subscribing our names to the words to my father Thomas Hinton and his heirs being first obliterated and the words for the same” being underlined.
~ John Brown.   ~ Wm. Wdwd. Jones.
Proved at London 10th May 1856 before the Judge by the Oaths of Mary
Hinton Widow the relict and Thomas Hinton the father the Executors to whom
Admon was granted  having been first sworn by either duly to administer

___

Note: I had earlier written this Thomas Hinton's father was 'late' - he wasn't as he was Executor to this will, my error.   Also noting, this Thomas has both a Great Uncle James Hinton (late), and an Uncle James Hinton (living).

Hi
I get that but what if the age is put to the side and Thomas was the first child born after the 1772 marriage or as I said from a earlier marriage of his father's and Mary Dicken who is leaving a Will is his stepmother who still calls him her son?
Thomas senior is from Hanmer on the 1772 marriage and I've just found this on FindMyPast

Thomas s of Thomas and Mary baptised Hanmer 8.3.1773 .
It's 5 years out for that age at burial and the census but who's to say how old he was when baptsed?

thank you both

this has given me lots to look at, the Thomas Hinton the younger on my tree is son of Thomas Turner Hinton, son of John and Martha, he didn't to my knowledge have a grandfather Moreton, his grandfathers would be a Hinton and a Caulcott, although other Moretons were married to Hintons in that area

I need to look at my tree and these names in depth this afternoon

This Thomas the victualler below, appears to be  the nephew  mentioned in the will  of James Hinton who died 1853.

This nephew appears to have two sisters, one who married CHESTERS and one who married LANGFORD.

so far
ciderdrinker - I think you're right re the Thomas bap Hanmer 1773, I can find no records for the Thomas I had abt 1795 ??? if he was born 1772 soon after Thomas and Mary married his age on census and burial are as you say 4/5 yrs out, unusual to make yourself older but not unheard of

Ambley - yes that's the Thomas I have on my tree, after looking at the will of Thomas the younger I've found a mar for Thomas Hinton, Butcher to Ann Moreton 1829 and a death for Ann Hinton of Tilstock 1832, he then marries Mary Caulcott in 1833, although the mar states he is a bachelor I think this is a mistake and the younger Thomas born abt 1830 therefore did have a grandfather Moreton (I can't find his bap though)
this family did have a number of men who were victuallers/butchers

Hi Linda
Just joined up on this site.  My great grandmother Ann Hinton married name Prince came from Malpas and her father had a butchers shop and quite a large family.  She married and moved to Chester and lived there for many years in Cecil Street.  I don't know if this is any relation to the Hintons you are dealing with.

Regards

John Prince
