Loughborough Baptisms 1865-1874
« on: Sunday 05 June 16 12:11 BST (UK) »
If anyone has the transcripts for All Saints I'd appreciate a look-up of the following children of Ishmael & Eliza Guess.  I have the basic details from FS but am hoping the registers also included an address so I can pinpoint where they were living between the 1861 & 1871 census:

27 Feb 1865 - Lavinia Guess
9 March 1870 - George Walter Guess
20 March 1870 - Annie Guess (born 1868)

The children born after this weren't baptised at All Saints so if I'm not being too cheeky any help with those would also be appreciated:

c1872 - William Ambrose Guess
c1874 - Joseph Guess

Hi
There is no address given on Pr the only way you will be able to find that out is probably to buy their birth certificates.
On Lavina's record there is nothing in the notes. On the other 2 George Walter Guess father dealer in marine stores. Annie's it says her age as 1yr 9months and father dealer in marine stores.

Sorry

Many thanks

I knew Ishmael was a Marine Store Dealer and also where he traded from so was trying to establish whether they also lived there in the early years. I was hoping to avoid certificates just for the address, but such is life. Fingers crossed it doesn't just say "Loughborough"  ::)

Thanks again for looking, much appreciated.

Thanks for checking again, those are both helpful to have as I'd thought they were baptised elsewhere, indicating a move.  I was wondering which birth certificate to go for but this information nudges me towards Lavinia.

Thanks again.

Hi Jomot,
Lavina is the only one that father's occupation is not given. Have you checked the census records for addresses?

In 1861 they were in Melton Mowbray then from 1871-1911 they lived at the same address in Loughborough, but I'm trying to find out whether they lived anywhere else in Loughborough first.  Ishmael first appears at the Loughborough petty sessions for handling stolen goods around the time of Lavinia's  birth, but like the PR's, no address is given.

I know this thread was a while ago now but I just put in a search for Ishmael Guess and came up with this ! I am returning to my fathers line again, Ishmael was my Great great grandfather in a direct line from my father Derek Guess. Just thought I would say Hi !

Hi back at you!

Ishmael's wife, Eliza, is my GG Grandmother through her illegitimate son, who she left with her sisters  when she married Ishmael.  I've done a fair bit of research on her & her children, but didn't research them any further down.  As far as I know Eliza and her 'new' family never had anything more to do with my Great Grandfather, who left Leicester when he was about 18.
