Place of birth
« on: Monday 06 June 16 16:12 BST (UK) »
Hi, hope you can help

I don't want to delve deeply into family history just need to find my grandfathers place of birth. My mum is 89 and her dad died when she was a baby and she would love to visit his birthplace in Ireland but apart from date of death this is all the info I have.
many thanks

Hi Caz, did you forget to give us the info you do have?

His name and perhaps his wife's name and his/their date and place of death would be a start.  Or if you know his date and place of death, you could apply for his death certificate and see what info that contains.

Don't include your mum's name as Rootschat doesn't allow living people's names.

There are some really helpful people here if you want to start by posting his name and date of death.

Hi,
Welcome to Rootschat, we are not allowed to mention possibly living persons but perhaps if you feel you could give your Grandfathers name and date and place of death perhaps someone might be able to help.
Best wishes

Do you know where her dad is buried?      There may be useful details on his headstone  if you could go to visit his grave.

The marriage certificate should show who s father was and from that, with a birth year of 1907, you should be able to find him in either the 1911 census for England & Wales or the 1911 census for Ireland.

There is a death reg on Freebmd for James Quinn aged 23 in JAS 1928 Belper.
In a newspaper report this James Quinn sadly appears to have been in an accident in Ripley . Derbyshire on route to Coventry.
He was 23 and address given as 61 Faith Street, South Kirkby near Pontefract and widow given as Doris Quinn.
Is it possibly your James?
