Sadler family
« on: Wednesday 08 June 16 15:47 BST (UK) »
Hi, I'm looking for information about the death of William Sadler, born 1823 in Rivenhall, Essex, UK, and died between 1851 & 1861. I have found 1 death in the Grays area but it does not seem to fit in with his families location. Thanks, Mary

I can understand why you think it might nor be him but a lot can happen over a decade.
I notice their daughter was born in Grays & the family are living there in 1871 with new husband so there is a connection.
You may have to get the death cert. to find out if it's him.
Edit:
just noticed Emma remarried in the Orsett Reg. Dist. which covers Grays.

Hi, I have a death certificate but I'm not certain if its the right William Saddler but I dont seem to be able to find another one in the area. The person I have a death certificate for was working as a groom in Avening and it seems the family were living in Grays. My William Saddler came from a family who were brick and tile makers. In 1851 he was employed as a tile maker. I'm just not convinced the person I have the death cert for is the correct person because of the change of employment.

NAME:    William Sadler
DEATH:    abt 1856
OTHER:    20 Jul 1856 - Aveley, Essex, England
This william, my 2 great grandfather. The cert states was employed as a groom and died from a ?heart problem. Some how I feel it does not fit. This person is about thr right age. He came from a long family of brick/tile makers.
I spent a long while looking at maps of Essex, this death geographically seemed to be the nearest to Grays.

1851 doesn't show a William Sadler, groom.
From FreeReg:
Burial, 20th. July 1856 Aveley, St. Michael.
William Sadler aged 60.
There are 2 others listed, one also 1856 aged 5 & the other in 1859 aged 80.
Edit:
checked the NBI which confirms your William as being 32. Out of the 10 dying 1850-60 he is the only one anywhere near the right age so it's difficult to see how he could be anyone else.

Died on 17/71856. Aveley
Certificate says age of deceased is 32.
The best informant is named as Elizabeth Dyson was stated as being in attendance at Aveley

Getting stranger. FreeReg has him down as 60 but you have to go with the cert.
It would be interesting to see what it says on the Burial Register all the same.
It's possible he was in an Infirmary of some sort in Aveley when he died.
It's also possible he changed jobs as a lot of brickmakers became unemployed when mechanisation took over the trade.
