I am looking for an ancestor.

Paul VALLA, probably born in the 1720's in Devesset (Ardèche), France.
Also looking for information about his wife Marguerite BERTOUZE
They were Protestants, Huguenots

Together they had several children:
- Pierre VALLA - Born 24/06/1748 in Montabonnel (Devesset), France
- Marie VALLA - Born  04/10/1749 in Montabonnel (Devesset), France
- Jean VALLA - Born 11/07/1753 (Devesset), France
- Izabeau VALLA - Born 28/10/1754 in Devesset, France
- Jacques VALLA - born 1740? 1760? in Devesset  - Married to Claudine BOIT, daugther of Mathieu BOIT and Marie COURTIAL (St Agrève, France) on 18/05/1777 - Deceased?

Any help or information would be much appreciated.

Hey Syvie!
From the marriage record from 1744, it says that Paul's parents were 'Jaques Valla' and 'Marie Bertoux'

Marguerite's parents, according to the same record are 'Pierre Bertoux' and 'Marie Fay.

The name 'Valla' seems not to be of French origin but of Italian origin.

this one married Magdeleine Dupau 5th nov 1747

Sorry to mislead you SM - that record is a Library entry - she was born 1754 - but for some reason she was recorded in a Library record in 1760 aged 5 or 6

The first bit now seems as though it is either showing the parent or the death of Valla ?
Valla âgée d'environ 42ans = Valla aged about 42 years.
