Plummer siblings
« on: Saturday 18 June 16 08:48 BST (UK) »
I need some fresh eyes on discovering what happened to my GG Grandfathers two surviving siblings. I have lots of information prior to 1911 so it's after this date I'm looking for help with. Parents were Edward a tailor and Ann, they both died prior to 1911.

Ellen Laura Plummer b1882 Great Yarmouth. She married Alfred Barrett Samuel Francis in 1908. She is listed as Nellie Francis on 1911 census. One child Alfred Stanley Francis (1908-1975 Forest of Dean). Her husband died in 1953, Ipswich he was living in the Salvation Army home at the time.

George Plummer b22/02/1893 Great Yarmouth. He joins the Royal Navy. Listed as a Private, occupation fisherman in 1911. Lists his brother and sister as nok when he joins up, he didn't know his sisters address so they may have already lost touch.  His pension records are on ancestry, discharged 11/1914 as medically unfit.

What happened to them both? The names are common, I can't find either in 1939. Lots of possibilities can someone help me narrow them down?

Just found military records for a George Plummer born 22/02/1890 in Bungay can't see an obvious birth registration for this person. He changed his dob previously to 1891, anyone think this is a possibility.

Have you looked at 1939 for Alfred

From his death I think he was born about 1878

I suggest you have another look at 1939 ?, was he a seaman/lighterman?

I will be interested in your comments

Louisa Maud

Perhaps George changed his year of birth to join up, convenience

Yes apologies looks like he's in the army in 1911, kempston Bedfordshire.

Yes Thank you I already have that military record think that's the one that gave Fred and Nellie as his next of kin.

Think he must have really wanted to be in the army -
I have now found another record where he was court marshalled for fraudulently re attesting and joining different regiments think he must have deserted 3 times. Anyway he ends up being sentenced to prison in 1920 for a couple of months so I've got him until that point.  It's a really good record with reveals he was mentally ill (not as a result of service). Anyway he changes his next of kin to his cousin Eliza Coe, she lived at 25 Maygrove road, Yarmouth. I can't seem to find a death for him though strange.

Apologies t mo - that's obviously a different record. I've got a 1914 join up with nelly Frances listed as next of kin address not known. Then a big lumped together file that I mentioned in my second post, he gives a different year and date of birth but it's definitely him.

Louisa maud I can see Alfred on 1839 register in a house of what looks like multiple occupation it mentions someone else in the house that isn't Ellen Laura and I wonder if he was already living in a Salvation Army hostel.
Edit - no credits on find my past I suspect that record won't reveal anything of use.
