This could be a possible for the daughter Martha Moffat Gallamore - daughter of James and Agnes  (informant on her sisters death)
Moffat was the maiden name of her grandmother - Martha Moffat.

Wow Sandra, very fine sleuthing.  :)

Robert is oh so elusive, like a ghost, which is what happened to Michel, BC.

Hi,

There is an obit for brother James in the Lethbridge Herald newspaper date June 18, 1953,
but no mention of Robert.

Natal, B.C., The funeral of the late James Penman took place recently at the United Church, Michel. He was 52, born in Glasgow, Scotland on January 10, 1901. He came to Canada in 1928, having resided in Michel for the last 25 years. Leaving to mourn besides his wife, son B* of Michel, daughters Mrs. D* of Champion, Alberta, and A* and B* at home. Also one brother William who left only a few years ago for Scotland, along with four sisters Mrs. C. Bennett and Mrs. L. Madole of Whitefish, Montana and two sisters in Scotland. Deceased had been an employee of Crows Nest Coal Co., Michel during the majority of his years in Michel.

Cheers,
DB

Hi,

Robert was in Michel in 1941.  An article in the Lethbridge Herald lists men who signed up for WW2 from Michel and Natal, after a parade and rally.  On the list was Robert Penman of Michel.

Lethbridge Herald, July 10, 1941, page 13.

Excellent DB that was on the "to do" list today, looking for the mother Mary.  Sadly she was killed in a motor accident in 1943 but I suspected she must have crossed the pond to visit some or all of her children.

Hmm WW2 that was another thought RK - couldn't find him listed on any war graves sites or a connection to Canadian Forces.  He doesn't seem to be around by 1953 though does he  ???

After a quick glance, hadn't positively identified Mrs D on voters list for Champion Alberta  ???
