Looking for my half brother

Hi, I am looking for a half brother but don't have any details about him or even where to begin searching for him.

Any advice please?

My mother told me that my dad was born on was born in 1965 November in Liverpool. He was married in Kent, U.K. Not long after.

If his name is unusual enough look for the marriage on www.freebmd.org.uk which may not be complete or www.familysearch.org. Both sites are free to use or if you have a subscription use FindMyPast or Ancestry

If you search for your dad's marriage and find who you think he married, make a note of the spouse's maiden surname and then you can use the sites I mention to search for births of their children.

As a test, have you found yourself in the birth index?

Can you not ask your mum,or dad about him?

Would he be a child of your dad's,if he wasn't married to the lady then it's highly likely that the baby was registered in her surname- do you know it? Do you know the area he was born in,is he older or younger than you?

All things to think about if you are looking on Free BMD,however another thing to bear in mind is that it is not fully transcribed yet and if the births (including yours,try and find that as a trial run) are after about 1980 you are unlikely to find it on a free site.
