Help with Chittleburgh family - Yorkshire/Staffordshire

Hi everyone,

I have been stuck with my family tree for a bit now, need help finding out about Harriett Chittleburgh's (1878-1954, b. Crabtree, Yorkshire) first husband, Francis Snape. On their marriage certificate it says his name is Francis, but on their daughter's marriage certificate it says Frank. I have looked up both variations and cannot find anything on him. I am wondering whether Francis could be his middle name. Him and Harriett married in Staffordshire in 1903, and so he could have been born there. I know he died prior to his daughter's marriage in 1933, as it lists him as deceased.

Also, their first son, John Henry (1904-1984, b. Grantham, Lincolnshire) wasn't living with his parents in 1911, as it says on the census he was living with his grandparents, Lavinia and Henry William Chittleburgh, in Staffordshire. I can't find Harriett's census for 1901 or 1911, and can't find out anything about Francis Snape.

I will be grateful for any information. Thanks

No it doesn't say anything about his father. I seem to be stuck getting any information on him, birth, death etc.

There is a death registration - September quarter 1928 - Leek Registration District.  Year of birth said to be 1871(57) = Frank Snape.  StaffordshireBMD narrows it to Biddulph.


Added:  Not sure of this as 1911 has Frank Snape as living in Biddulph with wife Sarah Ellen (married 3 years) plus child.  Marriage 1908 at St Lawrence, Biddulph - Frank Snape and Sarah E Willshaw.

I don't have the certificate with me at the moment, so I can't say how old he was etc and Harriett remarried in 1914 to James Dever in Preston, Lancs. Thanks for the info on the death registration, I will look further into it.

I see that there is a probate, but I don't recognise any of the names. I forgot to mention that their daughter, Lavinia, was born in Broughton, near Preston in 1912, so he could have died there between 1912 and 1914. I have looked this up also but find nothing.
