Frank Douglas - Blackburn, Lancashire

Hello, I wonder if someone can help.
I am trying to help a relative to find info about Frank Douglas.   I have found him on the 1939 Survey,
living in Blackburn, where he gave his dob as 12 July 1897.  His wife, May Douglas (nee Davies), dob 31 May 1908, was living at the same address.  They appear the following year, still at the same address, on the birth certificate of their child.   Then the trail goes cold.  I have been unable to find a birth, death or marriage cert for either of them. I have checked most things I can think of (including immigration / emigration records) but have run into a solid brick wall.   I know that I must have missed something, but what?  Any help much appreciated.

I wonder where he was born.

1901 has several Frank Douglas's of the right age, none in Blackburn.
 Nearest is Bolton, but that doesn't men anything, he could have moved to Blackburn between birth and 1939 from anywhere.

I wonder if Frank was married before meeting May?

There is a Francis Edgar Douglas born in 1897 on Lancs BMD -- born Oswaldtwistle. 'Ossy' is adjacent to Blackburn and Frank is a nickname for Francis.

I haven't explored him further yet!

There are possible deaths for Frank Douglas:
1954 Portsmouth, age 57 or
1957 Daventry age 60

The 1954 Portsmouth one leaves a Will - Probate to widow Lily, so doesn't look like yours.

I notice there's a marriage for the probable daughter in 1962.
This may state if the father is deceased.
A long shot I know.

Liz -- the one with the probate may have been the marriage you found to a Lily.

Blackburn burials/cremations are on Deceased on Line -- and I cannot see a burial/cremation for him there. So on the face of it he left Blackburn.

There's also a 1934 marriage in Blackburn for a Frank Douglas. There was 1 child from that in 1937.
Plenty of time to leave & meet someone else.
