John Tiernan Born 1900 Drogheda *COMPLETED*
« on: Wednesday 29 June 16 11:39 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I'm looking for info on John Tiernan Born 22nd August 1900 in Drogheda.
Went to England in 1915 to join the army.

I hope to find out his wife's name and date of marriage, and also his date of death.

Thanks

Are you sure he married? Have you searched for a marriage in England or do you think he married in Ireland? Do you think he died in England or came back to Ireland at some point?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thanks for the reply.

He lived in Balham after the war, and died in London sometime in the early 1960s. As far as I am aware he married in England after the Great War, and all his children were born in London.

His wife may have been Annie F.

In that case you should click on 'report to moderator' and ask for this thread to be moved to ENGLAND board since the details you are looking for will be found there and not in Irish records.

Try FREEBMD to search for possible death, marriage & birth of children (if you know any of their names start searching for them- mother's maiden name will be listed in index hopefully making it easier to find the marriage).
https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

You might find him in Probate records (will give exact date of death)-

have now done so, thanks.

I even managed to mess up the surnames  :-[

(In my defense I tend only to look at Scottish pre 1850s ! All info I needed was on the freebmd site so this can be closed)
