For your interest...Here is the back with the message...It could be Scotland...but...it could be anywhere.

Aw Ruskie...you were so quick off the mark that I thought you had the answer...I have asked many people over the last couple of years and no-one recognises it  ::)

The post mark is Bo'ness.
So unless they forgot to post it till they got home, it might be that area.  Bowness on Windermere one assumes.
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Sorry to get your hopes up.  ;)

It is quite an odd looking building to be a ruin - not a church, but a large building in quite a modern style with all those windows. It looks quite fragile so I do wonder if it is still standing after the years which have passed since the photo was taken.

well spotted Lizdb. I was just getting out the ipad so I could zoom in.

Observations:

- remnants of a staircase in the back corner perhaps?
- am I imagining a bridge of some sort through the bottom  windows on the far right

That long narrow 'slit' in the gable end makes me think grain store, but the side windows look too large, and the building maybe not tall enough, still I'd say it had a pulley system at the top of that 'slit'.
