s*ds law, the fiche is missing or more likely mis-filed. Some people who use the fiche have little or no regard for putting them back in the right place, and I include the professional users in that statement as well.

I've reported it to the staff who will most probably order a replacement.

I'll look again next week in the hopes that it might have found its way home. If it isn't there, I'll go to Westminster and look at theirs.

So were you able to place those 5 people that I mentioned who left wills post 1966?

Sorry, I said earlier that the first 3 on the probates page are on the first part of the list, so I have their details, and I think I have identified James William, that just leaves the 5th entry unknown.

Do you mean the 5th on your list?

That is someone born in Dec 1939....which is Mr Anthony Bertram Albon DOB 16 Dec 1939 who died in Reading Berkshire in July 2011.

Of the deaths reported on the probate page, the first 3 names, Harry Geoffry, George Henry, and Anthony Bartram are on the first part of the death index, so I have their full details.  The fourth name, James William, I think I have identified on the death index, that just leaves the 5th name on the probate page, John William Allen, to be found on the death index.

The e lectoral rolls are coming up with a John W Albon up to 2011 in Essex,aged 60-64.
Maybe this is your man?

Thanks so much for this.  It fills a few more gaps, but also produces a couple more things to investigate.  Such are the joys of researching family history.
