McGroary/McGrory
« on: Sunday 03 July 16 13:42 BST (UK) »
HI

After spending near 2 days and getting nowhere I googled my grandfathers details and a link for your website came up ..... so I assume another cousin may have been sourcing.

All details match exactly. James Mooney McGroary (McGrory) was born on 13/03/1903. Died aged 68. Married a Mary Jane Meikle Anderson Houston (Born 1902) and Married in St Marys Church, Maryhill on 13th Feb 1923.

I am the daughter of his youngest Child Rosemary (19/04/47).

Any assistance you can is greatly appreciated, main area of information I am looking for is his place of birth - Ireland or Scotland.

Link I found that I believe to be of the same person is here: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=242366.0

Many Thanks

Rosemary (Rosie)

Hi Rosie

Welcome to Rootschat  ;D

As you say, the other topic you have found and linked to, seems to be your Grandfather - and confirms, he was born in 1903 (no father named on the certificate) in Scotland at Maryhill Maternity Hospital (Glasgow, Lanarkshire),  a year and a half before his mother Bridget MOONEY married Michael McGRORY, in Maryhill.

The other  topic further states Bridget and Michael both born Ireland.

If you post a message on the other topic, hopefully both the OP (original poster) who may be your cousin and the kind person who had the copy of the birth record, may see your post via a Rootschat notification and repply to you!

Kind regards
