Railway workers

Does anybody know where I can find info on Railway Workers ,looking for platelayers, tried Ancestry Rail indexes but coming up blank. Name Richard Potts Born 1880 lived in Horton in Ribblesdale, so not sure which railway he would have worked for?
Any help appreciated.

1911 Census shows him as a platelayer living in Horton in Ribblesdale.  The entry is annotated MR, meaning Midland Railway.  Midland Railway constructed the Settle to Carlisle line in order to obtain access to Scotland after a dispute with the London and North Western Railway over access rights.

So the answer to your question is Midland Railway, which had its headquarters at Derby.

I got my great great grandfather's Manchester Sheffield and Lincoln Railway employment records on FindMyPast I think, or.. It may have been Ancestry.    Results should come up with a name.

Findmypast has a record of Richard Potts 1880-1948 trade union membership and details of his burial.  Buying a few credits should enable you to see the records.
