Asylums
« on: Tuesday 05 July 16 16:21 BST (UK) »
I know "my" Jessica is the correct one in Lincoln and Heigham, but is it her in all the other places.
I`m sure it`s her as all the registers have her as Private, and Heigham Hall was a private asylum where she died in 1890.
Why would she be moved around so much ?

there's a list of licensed houses here,

http://studymore.org.uk/3_06.htm#3.8.TA2B

Northumberland House was in Stoke Newington so she didn't really move that much.

http://www.harringayonline.com/group/historyofharringay/forum/topics/unique-photos-of-northumberland-house-circa-1900

Her family seemed to have been trying to pay for the 'best' treatment available at the time, seems without success as was often the case.

Maybe contact the author of the website for more info.

I found his site quite difficult to navigate.

Where was she from and where did her family live? Did she start off in London and then was maybe moved to the 'countryside' for the air?

Any clues in the case records? The records for St John's at Bracebridge are online at Lincs To The Past because I was only reading about a patient there the other day. Her record started with date she was admitted but also when symptoms started.

As far as I can find only the admission registers are online, and these only give dates of admission and discharge.

Jessica was from a well off family, she was born c 1831 and   they were in Finchley from at least 1851
By 1871 all her siblings had left home, and she was unmarried.
1875 her mother died. 1880  her father died.
Jessica made a will. Probate to her brother Personal Estate £766 7s 4d
