I am looking for the parents of the aforementioned ( my great, great, great grandfather on my paternal grandmother's side ) Ship's records state point of origin as Heligoland which I believe was under Danish control at the time of his birth or recently "annexed" by the poms.

Welcome to rootschat, Stephen.

Have you applied for a marriage certificate for him, which may name his Father?

There is quite a bit of information on Ancestry about the family - have you looked on there at all?
