Royal Army Medical Corps
« on: Friday 08 July 16 17:21 BST (UK) »
Hi, we have a R A M C Training Pamphlet, No 3, 1944. We assume it belonged to my husbands Grandfather who was born in 1903. There appears to be a service number printed on the cover but we cannot find out anything from this. The number is 22032788. His name is also written on the cover with 'Cumberland Hotel' handwritten too. Would be grateful if anyone can throw any light on the subject.

Hi moon.l

A very warm welcome to rootschat.

Would it be possible to post a little more info about the gentleman so that our experts have something to work on.

My late father was also in the RAMC during WW2 and I have lots of his army info hence my interest.

You can check whether that serial number is in a batch allocated to the RAMC

Just perhaps, he may have been an ambulance driver, so was required to attend a ramp training course

Thankyou everyone, his name is Robert Thomas Moon. b.1903 in Eccleston, Chorley, Lancs. The number I quoted is not included in the RAMC service numbers (found that now they start with 7). Am beginning to think he could have been Ambulance Corps.

Army Service Records post the early 1920s are still with the Army. You can apply for your relatives' Army Records from the Army.

I believe that Army Ambulances were driven by RASC drivers.
