There is some info on www.familysearch. I just put in surname and area.  Seems family can also be known as Jacklin / Jackling

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VFTP-8LF think this maybe son in 1841

Yes, it's a bugger to be sure.

I did manage to get a death cert for Phillipe Badier and his marriage cert with Marie Virgine, some years back.

I have a vague memory of seeing Louis Snr on a list with others from George Badier's - Phillipe's father - farm, but could be imagining it.

What religion would they possibly be, having come from France?

Difficult to say, what church was the marriage in you have?

http://about-france.com/religion.htm

The names in census possibly indicate RC

I hadn't thought of that Cas. I checked and it was a Church of England marriage for Marie V and Phillipe.

I was puzzled by the fact that in 1851 I found this family in St Helier showing remarkable similarities to the Jacquelines.

Louis Bouché 1804
Marie             1799
Pelagie           1836
Louis             1837
Leonore         1845

However I then found an entry on the Jersey Archive site for a hospital admission for a Louis Jacquelin dated 19th July 1876. The really interesting part is that the entry reads,
' Louis Jacquelin dit Boucher, aged 70, from Nerou, France, suffering from cancer.

For Nerou read Nehou in Manche and his birth registration is on the archives.manche site. It's a bit tricky to work out the date as the French Revolutionary calendar was in operation but it was the 13th day of Brumaire, Year 11. Year 11 started in Sept 1802 and Brumaire roughly equated to October. His full name was Jean Louis Francois and his father was Jean Jaquelline dit Le Boucher and his mother Louise Travers. The witnesses were Jean and Marie Travers, Uncle and Aunt of the child.

If you get stuck let me know i can probably get a bit further back in the French records, there seems to have been quite a few Jacqelines in Nehou.
