NBI have an entry for Sarah Eaton, at St Mary Ecclesfield - 7 August 1865 aged 70.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Correct me if I'm wrong!!!!! But could the Joel Eaton who married Sarah Bunting have been Elijah's brother and there father was Joseph?

If they were brothers then there is 20 years between them.  Elijah baptised 1793.

Transcription of the marriage licence for Joel dated 4 July 1798 says that Joel is 25 of Ecclesfield, and Sarah is 21 of Ecclesfield.  So born around 1773.

Joel Eaton buried 8 September 1856 at St Mary, Ecclesfield, aged 84 of Clown in Derbyshire.  So born around 1772.

Strange - there are two marriage entries for Joel and Sarah, two different parishes, two different dates, with different witnesses:

St Mary, Ecclesfield - 5 July 1798 - by Licence.  Joel and Sarah botp.  Witnesses:  Joel Eaton and Joseph Loxley.

St Nicholas, Bradfield - 1 August 1798 - by Banns.  Joel otp and Sarah of this chapelry.  Witnesses:  Joseph Eaton and Elizabeth Smith.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

I got confused on this one, see earlier reply on this thread. Could it be that there was something wrong with the licence and the first marriage in July wasn't legal. from 5 July to 1 Aug, gives time for banns to be read 3 times.
