Hi
Wouls anyone be able to point me in the right direction on how to search for the parents of my 3x great grandfather..
His details Thomas Richards
Born july 1819, Dowlais, glenmorganshire, south wales.
He worked at Dowlais ironworks and he was involved with the chartist movement.
He married Sarah Mary Williams 26th oct 1840 in Bedwelty monmouthshire.
He had 9 kids, 3 in england and 6 in Australia.
We found his grave and death on Trove thanks to the people of this forum..
We still learning how to search

Hello Rhys,

You have not named your ancestor but from your brief earlier thread I am presuming he is Thomas Richards.

Free BMD has this possible marriage :
Abergavenny, December 1840
Sarah Williams and Thomas Richards are on the same page.

The marriage certificate should give you their fathers' names which may help you further.

Regards
Heywood

Hello,
You would have to send for the details.

This is the site https://www.freebmd.org.uk

You need to search for either name and the year.
This is the result
Abergavenny December quarter volume 26 page 11.

Find My Past might show more with the church details but I have no access to that.

Marriage entry shows that Thomas' father is also called Thomas and he is a Hookmaker.  Sarah's father is James, a Labourer - no mention of Mary as a second forename.  At the time of the marriage the couple were said to be living in Rhymney.
