A bit confused by this
Quote
Bernard Flood born c1868
No. 2339, 6th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles Regiment

Bernard Flood born c 1885 record shows father named as Bernard Flood
No. 3410 Royal Irish Rifles

2339 would have had an attestation date of 1888/9 so is this the Father's no. ?
There's wasn't a 6th Batt. at that time.

3410 appears to have an attestation date of 1892.

Hi Jim don't know if these details will help with Bernard Snr.

Couldn't understand this at first however they are the 6th. RIR Militia formed out of the Drogheda/Louth Militia.
So part-timers.
A Batt. had 4 Coys. A,B,C & D.
Quote
Assuming for the moment he enlisted pretty early on which his age might indicate & in an Irish Regt. I found 2, 1 in the RDF  who died WW1 & the other in the 6th. RIR no. 6/7458, enlisted 19/9/14, discharged due to wounds 7/1918.
He received the 15 Star, BW & V Medals.
I would say this is probably him re-enlisting into the 6th. Service Batt.
