On that 1923 manifest for the Celtic, John Carney was travelling as a passenger. His occupation was dental mechanic. His passage had been paid for by his uncle Louis.

Not a lot to add.
Sorry to be negative but the card CR10 tells us very little. In fact there is nothing that shows that this individual ever went to sea at all. There is no indication of which ship he was intended for, Nor any indication of other ships he may have sailed on. There is a slight difference in the date of birth. There is no Discharge A number, (A unique number relating to an individual seaman a very useful tool in tracing  seamen)
This what a properly part completed CR10 should look like.

You will note several six digit official numbers on the second card which tells us which ships this man sailed on.
There is no record of John Carney on the Irish Mariners site.

The photograph of John Carney. Did it ring any bells?

The deaths at sea records I can see on FindMyPast are the Deaths at Sea indexs which shows nothing of interest. What we want is the registers of deaths of seamen  in BT334/89 and BT 334/92

Dear Trevor:  Thank you for having my email lifted! I am very new and I'm just learning.  Very grateful..

Dear Seaweed: I appreciate you taking time to look at the records you were sent. I haven't seen his picture yet but I am sure I would know him as the Carney's have very distinct features.

Warmly,
Joan

Dear ShaunJ:  I believe I have that record.  His uncle Louis Carney was my grandfather.  Thank you!

Hi Trevor,

I hope you received my email claiming the details and photo as correct!  What joy I experienced today!  I will confirm the address as 2-A Carlisle Circus, Befast as being absolutely correct.

Thank you,
Joan

Yes, ShaunJ, Sarah Carney (John's grandmother and my great grandmother) and his aunt Winifred Carney lived at that address for many years.  In fact, the following relatives listed their address at 2-A Carlisle Circus as well:  Ernest Carney, Louis Carney, Alfred H. Carney...  I visited that location on my recent trip to Ireland.
