1831 Brighton marriage lookup - Mitchell & Hutson

Hi,

I am hoping some kind soul can tell me any details of the 1831 marriage of David Mitchell & Frances Hutson in Brighton.

Any information gratefully received.

Thanks Rosie, a date at least helps, I was also hoping for some witness names and the possibility of the original showing Hutson is really Hudson?

You can see images of many Sussex PRs and BTs on the Family Search website if you register. Search for a place via their catalogue, from the results select "church records", and if there is a camera icon you can view online. Does not apply to transcriptions, etc

It does say Frances Hutson. But she made a mark, did not sign her name.
David Mitchell, however, signed
Both were of the parish
Witnesses were George Hider, who also marked, and John Pocock (a regular)

There is a marriage to William Luckhurst 26 March 1837 in Brighton.    Could that be it or do you know she married a Mitchell?

Hi Sillgen,

I am trying to find out what happened to Frances 1810 and Harriot 1806, both baptised in Alciston, daughters of Obadiah & Charlotte Hudson. Both parents are buried in Alciston prior to 1841 and I can't see any obvious census entries for them so I am trying to eliminate possible marriages.

I will have a look for a Frances Luckhurst and see where she was born.

May be in Portsea in 1851, 1861 (Durrell). Not sure that she gives Alciston as birthplace, but death Sep qtr 1870, Portsea, Harriet Durrell, age 63

Only had time for a very quick look at this -
There is a death of a Frances Mitchell in Brighton, Dec qtr 1843
Burial, Brighton (in the nonconformist records), Frances Mitchell, 8 Nov 1843, age 31
A David Mitchell (40), widowed, in Brighton in 1851, with daughter Elizabeth (14). Possibly Elizabeth Mitchell, bap 22 May 1836, St Nicholas, parents David + Frances
1841 Brighton has a David Mitchell, 32, Frances Mitchell, 30, in Hood Street. Might be the same David?

I had looked at both of those but nothing there to make me feel sure that they are mine. I know at least one sister and brother were literate so am not sure about both of there options not signing at the wedding but cant see much else or any likely births?

I will leave them "pencilled" in for now as options  .
