Hi, further help if possible. Sarah Hood the daughter of Joseph Hood and Catherine Spilsbury was baptised on the 4th January 1833. She appears on 1841 census with her grandmother Ann Spilsbury aged 7. By 1851 she is recorded as a milliners assistant aged 16 in Birmingham.Sarah marries an Edwin Carter 31 05. 1865 in Birmingham. My next sighting of her is the 1880 USA census aged 45 with husband Edwin and a daughter Emma aged 20 (c1860) I cannot find Sarah and a possible daughter together  on the 1861 census, or 1871 census with an Edwin. I ordered a birth cert for an Emma Hood born Sept q 1860 Wolverhampton but the mother was not shown as Sarah. Any help with finding them in census / migration records would be great.

Thanks

John

If Sarah Hood was in Birmingham in 1851 and married there in 1865 - it seems more likely that daughter Emma was born there rather than Staffordshire

Hi, since posting first post I have discovered that Emma Hood married in the usa in 1897 and died there in 1917. Her "mother" Sarah it transpires was her maternal aunt, her real mother being a Julia Hood, Sarah's elder sister. Her alleged dob being 12th June 1865 in Wolverhampton. Julia Hood married Benedict Neilson in Birmingham 20th July 1866 and sadly died aged 40 in March q 1871.
