Sperry Charles and Ruth Frencham - missionaries in China
« on: Tuesday 02 August 16 13:55 BST (UK) »
I am looking for details of the Reverend Sperry Charles Frencham born Australia and his wife Ruth Wheatley born Sussex England.
There are various entries in TROVE regarding Mr. and Mrs. Frencham having being murdered by Chinese bandits circa 1935 but I can find no other records to confirm their death.
There is a Victoria Funeral Notices Transcription for a Charles Sperry Frencham in 1992 but nothing for Ruth. Sperry Charles has been transposed, so could Sperry Charles and Charles Sperry be one and the same?

Reading the reports in British and Australian newspapers, they were at first thought to have been murdered in early March 1935, but a cable was received from Hanchong in late March confirming that they were alive and well. Ruth Wheatley Frencham gave birth to a baby girl (Grace Joy) on 25 April.
