Are you saying these 3 are children of Samuel but Edward isn't.
These are the Bp's. for their children:
Henry 1870
Catherine 1873
Jane 1875
Sarah 1881.
Nothing for Edward so either wasn't Baptised or done somewhere else.
I don't know why you believe he's only a half-sibling.

Any possibility that his first names were the other way round?  I have come across an Irish birth registration for a William Edward Barrett in 1877 Lisburn, Ireland.  Registration District Lisburn, Vol. No. 11 and Page No. 656

For some reason it doesn't mention the quarter so can't be sure that it is your Edward if his names were the other way round.

The GRONI indexes show the mother's maiden name as Lackey. Dob 12.8.1877.

Oh thanks Elwyn - that knocks that one on the head then.  I only put it on as a possibility of a Irish birth.

Looks like this one is going to be difficult to pin down then.

Mike, do bear in mind that family stories are not always true.  My mother always said that her grandfather was one of twins.  When I researched her family I found that he wasn't.  He had a younger brother and a sister, definitely not a twin.

So family stories need to be taken with a pinch of salt and either proved or disproved.

May I suggest that you consider obtaining the birth certificate for the birth that KGarrad has found for you.  It is in the right quarter for an April birth.  You will know for sure then whether that is the right one or not.
