Sorry - I see it now. Where does is show the names of the witnesses? Do you have the next page?

I think witnesses only came in with Hardwicke's Mariage Act of 1754?

My fault for doing too many things at once - I was getting this confused with their son's marriage much later.

I've looked through and found 3 of Anne's siblings baptised in the following years, as well as at least one Goat burial.

Thanks - I don't know what an admin bond is but will look into it.

Norfolk Record Office under the surname of Goate
Probate Inventory 1729-1731 for William Goate of Moulton ANW 23/19/13
probably goes with the administration bond listed under Goat. Anyway he didn't leave a will, you may or may not get names of heirs depends on the extent of the papers.
Admin bond for Sarah Goate of Moulton  ref ANW 1732 no.2

++ Ref ANW 24/8/174 Marriage License Bond for John Church to Anne Goat issued 21 March 1730 Groom of Lingwood Bride of Beighton. Marriage to take place Lingwood, Beighton or St Michael at Plea.
Hadn't made up their minds yet, but definitely your couple.

Also Ref ANW 24/9/58 Marriage License Bond for John Cornbold to Martha Goat, he was of Brooke she was of Moulton date 1 August 1730. Intended marriage at Moulton, Beccles Suffolk or Cove Suffolk.

Hi, if you Google North Burlingham, you find it linked to Lingwood as a parish. So, not Walsingham, but Burlingham?? Dave.

My 3 x Gt.Grandfather claimed (on a census) to have been born in North Walsingham c.1800, and I ran in to the same dilemma as you - North Walsham, Great Walsingham, Little Walsingham....
Obviously it was a widespread naming.  >:(

Yes it is odd - I guess not uncommon for place names to change.

In any case, it seems Ann was clearly from Beighton / Moulton St Mary so I don't know how ANY Walsham / Walsingham comes into it. Maybe it was the name of a farm or something.  ??? ???

Plus my ancestor was well into his 70s when he wrote it all down and hadn't been back in Norfolk since he was a child, so I reckon we can allow for a small memory lapse!  ;D  ;)

From FreeREG;

BAPTISMS;
St Mary, Moulton to William/Elizabeth Goat;
ANNE, 11 Feb 1713/14
ELIZABETH, 17 April 1716
WILLIAM, 1 May 1719
ROBERT, 10 Oct 1721
(FreeREG)

MARRIAGE;
8 December 1711, The Cathedral, Norwich, Norfolk
William GOAT of Moulton Parish to Elizabeth KIPPIN of Beighton Parish
(FreeREG)

BURIALS;
St Mary, Moulton
JOHN Goat, 30 Nov 1712, Son of Wiliam/Eliz***
ELIZABETH Goat, 24 June 1716, Daug of Wiliam/Elizabeth
WILLIAM Goat,  5 May 1720, Son of William/Elizabeth
ELIZABETH Goat, 17 October 1721, Wife of WILLIAM***
(FreeREG)
(yes, William is spelt with only one l)

Seems only Anne/Robert survived to adulthood.

Elizabeth must have died after giving birth to Robert.

*** cant find a Baptism for JOHN but as Anne was born til 1713 then John would fit as born after 1711 Marriage I posted.

Trish :)

Check out these also, just giving you pointers that you can look up images for;

WILLIAM Goat Bapt 18 July 1687, St Mary, Moulton,  Sibling Baptised 1685/86
(FreeREG)

I did also notice a PETER Goat Baptised St Mary 27 Sept 1727, Father Wm
Maybe William remarried as he had such young Children when Elizabeth died.

Anc has a Peter Goat buried 4 Oct 1727 Moulton

There is a possible Marriage for William GOATE to Martha BOOTY, 5 May 1726   St. Stephen, Norwich, Norfolk
(Familysearch.Org)
(may be worth checking to see if he was Widowed)

Aaah this is on FreeREG, both Widowed and William of Moulton :)

Yay excellent Trish - thanks. Although very sad for Elizabeth, obviously, and her children.
