Rennie family india
« on: Tuesday 16 August 16 08:38 BST (UK) »
I have posted regarding this family previously, have decided to re visit them.  I hit a brick wall a while back and wonder if anyone can shed any light.

My grand father Cecil Edwin George King (deceased)was born in India to Martha and Leonard burrows King.  I have managed to find Martha being born to Robert John Rennie and Mary Anne in 1871 she died in 1907. She was born in India. Martha was also married to Harry collier and George Everett but can't find any children from either of those marriages, but she did have three with Leonard.  I have my grandfathers baptism that confirms Martha was Martha Jane Rennie.

What I don't know is when Robert John was born or died or who Mary Anne was or when did she die? I did wonder if Robert and Mary married in England?  Was he serving in the British Indian army?

Martha had the following brothers and sisters.  Alexander born 1852 died 1852
William Henry born 1852 have no idea what happened to him
Thomas William. Born 1860. Married grace Ellen Reid.  I have found one child Ethel manuel Rennie born 1885. But what then happened to her?  Odd name as well so where did that come from?
Mary Anne Charlotte born 1864. Married Hugh Alfond. No children
Alice Louise born 1872. Married Cecil Lewis chitts they had three children Terence, Eva and Edna
Robert Jon born 1876. Died 1876

I know that Leonard King served in ordnance dept of army and his family had shares in the railway in Indian.  We're the Rennie family similar.

I looked into the connection with Edith and we are not connected to this family.

Sorry I modified before I saw your reply. In search only the two are showing up.

I am not sure that those children are all of the same family. Have you looked at the baptism register pages?

The father of the twins Alexander and William Henry (1852) was a Colour Sergeant in the 8th Kings regiment.

The father of Thomas, Alice, Martha and Robert John was a gunner in the Horse Artillery. The surname is spelt Renny (or Reany in Martha's case). I couldn't find a baptism for Mary.

There's a baptism for Marianna Renny in December 1863. Daughter of Robert & Marianna (that name Mariana or Marianna also crops up Thomas William's baptism). Robert was a gunner in A battery, 4th Brigade, Royal Horse Artillery.

I found a marriage for Robert and Marianna - with lots of unusual detail!

At camp, near Deesa, 27 June 1859
Robert Renny, age 26, widower of the late Catherine Butler; Bombardier, 1st Troop HA, parents John & Ellen Renny.

Marianna Coody aged 13 years and 7 months, the girl of HM's 33rd Regiment, parents Michael & Anne Coody.

Is her age a transcription error?
