Fascinating stuff
And another tea merchant! My ggrandfather was also a tea merchant 43 Victoria street named Abrham Sinclair.
It'll be great if we can tie it all together
Many thanks

Now just read second post #26
Lots of detail I'll have to cogitate... It's my age, things sink in slowly

BTW, at reply #11 I mentioned that one of the witnesses to the 1883 marriage of John Todd and Elizabeth McCammond was a 'William Lackie Todd'.

I can now revise that and confirm that it said 'William Leck Todd' - that is a very singular name and this confirmation ups the credentials considerably on the William Leck Todd and his brother Christopher Todd boarding at 9 Trinity Street in 1901.

A nice person from NIFHS kindly checked out this on the registers and transcribed it as Leck. For several years I took that as read despite the fact that I've never heard of the name before.  Then one day I wondered if it could be Lex as that is how William Alexander was known to his family. Since then I've taken it a Lex at least until you came up with Leck Todds !

The given facts are drawing near to the truth of the matter. I'm even beginning to think the brick wall may come down. Great stuff. I'm spending any time I have spare trying to get to grips with this. Many thanks
