Farrells of Broadleas, Co. Kildare
« on: Sunday 21 August 16 21:55 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to find out about the Farrells of Broadleas, Co. Kildare.

My GGGF was James Farrell who married Mary Whelan in Ballymore Eustace in 1842. They had a number of children including Jane (Joanna) and Elizabeth (Lizzie) but know very little about any of them apart from the births and baptisms. James Farrell shows up on Griffiths Valuation in Broadleas.

There is a Mary Farrell widow in Broadleas in 1901
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Kildare/Ballymore_Eustace/Broadleas_Commons/1439337/
daughter is a bit odd though, may not be the correct Mary Farrell if her unmarried daughter is Halpin.
Worth looking at though.

You must know something about at least one of them to have worked back to this family. Can you tell us what you do know.

Yes, you're right Mary is the same Mary Whelan. Her daughter is down as unmarried, don't know why, possible mistake or maybe they separated for a while. I know that she had the following kids Patrick, Ellen, Bridget, James, Thomas, Mary, Elizabeth and Jane. Apart from Elizabeth and Jane I know little about them except whats in the Census of 1901/1911 and where they where baptised.

If you know when they were baptised than you know their ages.
Have you looked for any of them in the Census?

If you want help finding the children of James Farrell and Mary Whelan then you'll need to give us ALL the details you've already found. Very difficult to look for the other children without knowing even their names or ages :-\
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

It's on one of the 'hidden' microfilms.
I just can't get it to open just now.

Got it
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai002562379/

The link on that site is missing the www. And a number is missing from the end.
