Behm family
« on: Monday 22 August 16 21:43 BST (UK) »
Good day.

I'm trying to locate the Behm family tree.  George Behm married Elizabeth Haberer(?) around 1898, supposedly in Germany.  She was born 11 July 1868, listed as birth place Palone( ?), Germany.  Elizabeth went to England in 1897.  Not sure whether George went with.  She died 2 December 1944.  Can anyone please help trace their roots?

Many thanks

Unfortunately I don't currently subscribe to Ancestry of Find my Past, but have you tried searching (or maybe someone can search for you) the 1901 and 1911 Uk census for Elizabeth? It should show if she was on her own or with George and may provide additional clues.

(If you have a library nearby I think most now provide free access to Ancestry.co.uk. So you can do your own search)

Thanks for the answer. It's a bit difficult, though, to search here (South Africa). I've tried using the internet with varied success.

Thanks Rosie. I'm trying to trace her back to Germany, even her husband. My Mom knows nothing of her, unfortunately.  Would love to get more info for her.
Thanks, Braam

Correct, she had one child - my grandfather. Don't have any details about her husband, only that his name was George and he came from Germany.

Probate record looks promising. Is anyone able to find this Elizabeth in the census records for Braam and confirm it is the same one i.e. Born Germany. If so, census records may potentially say where in Germany she was born
