S.S. Strathaird, January 1959
« on: Wednesday 24 August 16 01:26 BST (UK) »
My mother and father sailed to Australia under the Assisted Passage programme and I am trying to locate a passenger list for the Strathaird for January 1959. The National Archives in Australia are showing incorrect information and I would like to get this corrected for my mother.

Father: Kenneth Leak
Mother: Rosemary Leak
Sailed from Tilbury between 23-29th January 1959, arriving in Sydney on 28th February 1959

Hi Lisa
Yes, that certainly is my mother and father! Do you have a list showing them as passengers on board the Strathaird?
Thanks!

OK, I see. I was hoping to get some proof that they were on the ship as the National Archives of Australia have them down as sailing on a different ship and leaving from Southampton and not Tilbury, which has annoyed my mother! It would be great if I could somehow get the information corrected.

It is just an indexing error.  You don't need to provide them with proof, they do actually have the documents themselves and they are digitised online:

This is the form you need to fill out:

Hi Debra
Thanks very much for sending the link - the pdf I downloaded is quite large, but it is great when I see my parents' names listed.

I will attempt to update the records using the link to the form you posted.

Many thanks for all that.

Suzanne
