Help with Ancestry.com tree please
« on: Wednesday 24 August 16 06:48 BST (UK) »
Hi
I am having trouble with my ancestry.com tree..see I have my Grandmother and my Grandfather together as you do and coming off her I have her siblings  1 of which is George Reynolds now he has a daughter Barbara Rosemary Reynolds I know these 2 as information just arrived on marriage certificate from England....now
my Grandparents Arthur Nelson Robbins and Maud Reynolds had a Son my Uncle Harry....

So my Uncle Harry married my Great Uncles daughter .....yes they are first cousins.....so how do I have them on my tree her attached to her father or attached to her husband....
all these facts are correct..... confusing  but correct
I do hope I explained myself
thanks for reading this jackie

When you add a spouse a box comes up and on the top left it says "select someone in your tree" and you follow that so she will be connected to her parents but also with her husband. :)

You'll soon get used to using Ancestry. ;D

I did what you suggested but when I add her to her husband does not link up with father. Or I add to her father it does not link with her husband.
could it be because they are first cousins
thanks jackie

On her page she should have her parents and her husband's name.

I will go to Ancestry and "marry off" a couple of cousins and see what happens

Well "I married off" my sister to her cousin and it was fine. You hit spouse and go to select person in your tree and put the name in and then hit the correct person make sure you save it and on the person's page it should show parents and spouse. :)

Edit - I am describing the records page as having all the information if you are referring to the actual tree it duplicates them so the husband and wife are together in his family's tree and in the wife's family she is there with her husband.

You do have both of them in their family first before you connect them in marriage?

If you haven't, start with the families they come from adding son/daughter then follow what I have written.
