Name of a Dorset town?
« on: Thursday 25 August 16 00:40 BST (UK) »
I am trying to decipher the last word in the line of a burial entry for Robert Hannam.

I have underlined the word, it looks like it reads Robert Hannam of K-r- but not being familiar with Dorset I was looking for help please. (It is a snip from Gillingham burial reg)

Thanks
Hannam in London, Nottinghamshire and Sheffield
Collins in Staffordshire
Brackenbury, Gurnell and Willson in Lincolnshire and now Nottinghamshire
Marples in Derbyshire and Yorkshire
Heginbotham in Derbyshire

He is the only one listed of .... All others have no of ... Just name and burial date. Maybe he was not from Dorset.

It looks to me as Ken(?). If you check Feb the e looks very similar, also Jan, for n top line. Not sure of the end letter.

Just my thoughts.

Vicar shortening the name to fit into the space?

I think for a long name it would have been spelled in full as he didn't have to "fit" it into any space as it's not on a form with a limited space to write anything but that's my own thought.
