Hi ,was wondering if anyone could give me some advice please.
I am trying to find a child born in taunton workhouse 1920/30/40.

workhouses.org points to Somerset Heritage Centre for records of Taunton Workhouse :
http://www.workhouses.org.uk/Taunton/

There is only one birth of a Lovell, mother's name Lovell, in Taunton 1920-1940. I can't give the details as she may be living but you should be able to find it .

as has been said it certainly looks like the person is still alive your best bet is to try free bmd and look it up yourself .

I'm afraid not everything is on line ! You will; need to visit the Heritage Centre or enquire by email in the first instance - that's Genealogy !

On the workhouses link that CB gave you I can see that the birth records go up to 1932.  If your person was born after that I don't think there will be any records.

You could write and ask the Somerset Heritage Centre to check what records they have.  Their email addy is:

   somersetarchives@swheritage.org.uk
Ashford: Somerset, London
England: Devon, London, New Zealand
Holdway: Wiltshire
Hooper: Bristol, Somerset
Knowling: Devon, London
Southcott: Devon, China
Strong: Wiltshire
Watson: Cambridgeshire
White: Bristol
Windo - Gloucestershire, Somerset, Wiltshire

it may be that there records only go up to 1832 but in red above the list it does also say that there is possibly a hundred year closure period also for some repositories .
