Newbie here
« on: Sunday 28 August 16 14:15 BST (UK) »
Hi All

I am new to this forum so would appreciate a bit of advise.

The names that I am interested in are Giles (wick near pershore), Dezell (Bristol), Treagus (Sussex), Flecther (Sussex/Hampshire).

At the moment all of my research has been using online records but I know that these are not always the best or the most accurate. What I would like to do know is ratify my facts by looking at the original records etc.

Was wondering what the best way to do this was.

Thanks

H

Welcome to RootsChat! ;D

There is a Surnames Interest Tabl here on RootsChat - have you looked at it?

Scroll to the bottom of any RC page where, undernetah "Your Tools" you will find "Surname Interests".
Click on that and then Quick Search.

For original certificates, you need to but them from GRO at £9.25 each.
You can get the references from FreeBMD.org.uk.

FamilySearch.org may have details of baptisms and weddings.

Some Parish Registers are available ob Ancestry, FindMyPast, The Genealogist and the like.
Or you can go to the relevant Records Office and look them up yourself.

Scroll down to the bottom of any RootsChat page.
There you will find, in the dark box, under "Your Tools" "Surname Interests".

Click on that to get started ;D
