That's interesting about women using their maiden names, I wondered why she had a different surname to her husband.

Not unusual anywhere for women to lie about their ages  ;D

The marriage took place at St Saviour's Church on January 7th 1872

George Solomon Crocker, aged 20, bachelor, occupation Plasterer, born in St Helier and living in St Helier. Father Solomon Crocker - Stone Cutter
Emma Le Maistre, aged 20, spinster, no occupation, born in St Helier and living in St Helier. Father Philip Le Maistre - Carpenter

Thank you so much! I have applied for a copy of the birth certificate of my great grandfather Elias (George and Emma's fourth child) as someone suggested but that won't be here for another week or so. This will make it considerably easier for me to attain a copy of their Jersey marriage certificate as I am trying to collect together the marriage certificates of my mother's ancestors for her Christmas present. You've been immensely helpful so thank you once again
