Dating of photo and comparison Grace Morrison

These photos were taken in Australia

I am wondering if anyone could suggest a year/s for the photo with the girl in the short skirt. The older woman - Grace - died in1923. Could the girl be a daughter born in 1876? or a granddaughter born 1897?

I have added a photo of a granddaughter and a daughter (woman in the hat).

Not someone born 1876.
For it to be the one born 1897 this would have to be sometime during WW1.
There's an outside chance it could be but my first thought was late Edwardian.
They way they are dressed would be a bit old fashioned for WW1.
Can you show us what we're looking at. ie. we need to see all of it + the back.

Would you say the girl in the skirt looks 17ish?

Margaret - in the hat - was married in 1893.

Grace was born in 1838. How old do you think she looks in the photo?

The thing that has me stumped is the short skirt. When did women start wearing them?

Hi Jamjar..Do you have the original? if so can you scan the whole photo including the back, that's what Jim is asking for.

Carol that is the photo as was sent to me. As far as I know it is of the original.

By back, do you mean the flip side. If you do, then no.

Okay....the young woman looks to be in her early 20s to me and appears to be modelling her outfit so to speak as though it belonged to someone else...the blouse looks to be Edwardian as Jim has said and the skirt is of checked material probably hand made...not sure but she could be wearing boots/wellingtons. They are not standing close together so may not be related...Just my thoughts.
Here is a closer crop for other opinions. Was Granny Morrison a seamstress?
