R bird married Elizabeth matthews of castle cary in 1834 The same R bird pawnbrokers of long Acre partner sam haslock .my interest is in the Haslock family bird & matthews .Thank you every one who replyed to first questions .I havent worked out how to post new ques do I edited first one .any help woulde be appreciated

John Charles was b London c1809 and was a retired colonel in the East India service. Mary Ann was born in the East Indies, as were some of their older children, so I assume they married out there

This could well be the parents' marriage, given John Charles and Marianne (as she is sometimes recorded) have a son John Bird Haslock

Retired silversmith might be a bit of a exaggeration. there's a Samuel Haslock, pawnbroker of Long Acre Covent garden, who appears as a witness in several Old Bailey court cases in the 1820s and 1830s. In some he is said to be in business with a Mr Bird
