Hi cresser

RootsChat is meant for finding ancestors, rather than living relatives and we have a clearly defined ' no living people' policy. Please take a moment to read our guidelines for posting

http://www.rootschat.com/help/posting_guide.php

Personal details of any people known or thought to be living will be removed, in accordance with RootsChat policy, to avoid spamming and other abuses. So people here will be able to give you general tips and hints how to proceed, but not any concrete details.

You will also find more tips here:

Topic: Tracing Living Relatives

and

You can also search recent electoral register entries online here

https://www.searchelectoralroll.co.uk/Electoral_Roll_Search.asp

and cross check here

www.192.com

but you have to pay to view the results

However since 2002 people have had the choice to opt out of the ones that are sold to marketing companies etc so they may not be included.

If the person you seek was adopted out of the family and you do not know the name after adoption there is very little chance of finding them through the normal channels.

If adoption is a possibility then get it confirmed by buying the birth cert from the GRO. Then the best way forward is for you to register on the GRO adoption contact register here

https://www.gov.uk/adoption-records/the-adoption-contact-register

or here

http://www.adoptionsearchreunion.org.uk/default.htm

or here

http://www.missing-you.net/categories/adoptions.php

in the hope that they have also registered to find their birth family.

Thank you. There are some useful links here, and I had just ordered the birth certificate. I wasn't expecting to trace the person through this site, just to benefit from the wealth of knowledge of its contributors. Thanks again for your help. HH
