1910 Census on 52 nd Street Manhattan Ward 22, New York, New York shows the Carey family. Anna who became Swinerton and Gertrude who also became the wife of John Swinnerton.

So it appears that John made the crossing twice.1899 when he immigrated then again in 1914

Swinnerton  - Gertrude Swinnerton   (nee   Carey)  on  1st July 1963.  devoted  wife of  John,    beloved mother of Ann Potter, John  T,   Edith Utley, Robert  T.  and  Samuel H.   Dear sister of Mary Tobin, John and William Carey. Also survived by 13 grandchioldren. Thomas M Quinn & Sons Funeral Home.  35-20   Broadway.   L. 1.   City on Friday   at   9 am.  Solemn requiem mass at St Marys  RC Church at  9 30 am.   Interment  St,Charles Cemetery.
