John Christopher Surmon.

Good-morning, I need some help with John Christopher Surmon. b 23-Dec-1816 Aldersgate U.K.
d 21-Dec-1869 London. Parents Henry Surmon 1787-1869 and Ann Margaret Sadler 1791-1856.
First marriage to Maria Saner 24-Sep-1840 Camberwell St Giles. I have them on an 1851 roll in the U.K.
They arrived in Victoria on the Gloriana in Dec 1852. I think Maria died in Australia in 1857.
The next time I see J.C Surmon is a possible marriage to Mary Ann Murrell in 1860 in the U.K.
They then had two sons and two daughters all born in England. The first born 1861 and the last born in 1866. J.C.Surmon was apparently a veterinary surgeon like his father.
I can't find any other information about them and would love to learn more about him and his second wife Mary Ann Murrell.

There is this couple who match the details in 1861  living at Alma Road, Edmonton, Middlesex

Added - there is a marriage in Sept Qtr 1860  Kensington  1a   89 of a John Christopher Surman but possibly to a Mary Ann but her surname was Conner??

There is a baptism of a Albert Surmon  on 12 Jul 1862 at Weld Chapel,Enfield with parents John Christopher and Mary Ann Surmon

In 1871 Albert appears to be living with grandparents William and Mary Morrell in Tiverton Devon  and in 1851 a married daughter Mary Ann Connor is living with the family  (just realised I have misread Mary's age in 1861 as 24 when it is 34 -will correct it)

This looks likes the first marriage of Mary Ann

Mary Ann Morrell to  Francis Connor - Draper  on 25 Nov 1849 at Parish Chapel, St Pancras
Both were of full age and address given was Metton Place
Bride's Father William Morrell   - Tailor
Grooms Father Michael Connor  - Deceased
One witness was a John Morrell

In 1861  A Francis Conner age 24 b Liverpool and listed as married was living with a Linen Draper and working for them as a Linen Draper Shopman in Holborn

Thank-you for help so far. I wasn't aware that Mary Ann may have been married before. The only thing I can be sure of is that Mary Ann was living at John St Islington because that's where she was in the probate entry for John C Surmon.
Did Mary Ann have children with first husband, are they the grandchildren named as Francis W and John W ?
Albert Surmon is my g,grandfather.

It seems to tie in well as the Mary Ann I posted was living at John St, Islington in 1871

She appears to have had two children with first husband as you say the two boys living with her and their grandparents in 1851

John Walter Conner (although listed as John William in 1851) b  Jun Qtr 1849 Tiverton &c 10   293   who is still with his grandparents in 1861 and working as a servant in St Pancras London in 1871  and marries a Jane Martin in 1874 in Poplar
Francis William Connor b March Qtr 1848 Islington 3 245  who might have died March Qtr 1852 Tiverton 5b 302

I notice that your couple were listed on the same fiche and page as another SURMON.  Is he a relative?

Index to Outward passengers...ages are not a match but with such an unusual surname I think it is them leaving Melbourne for Sydney.
