Honora 'Nora' Grindlay née Mason

Good evening,

I am trying to find any information on Honora Grindlay.  I believe she was born in Quarryford in 1915 and died in East Lothian in 1989. Her parents are Henry and Margaret Mason, she married a Grindlay (I unfortunately don't know a first name) and she had 4 children, 3 of which were boys (David, Jack and James, I think). My understanding is that she had a baby girl but had to give her up as she was conceived whilst her husband was at war.

I have searched for any information to clarify what I believe to be true but it is as if she simply vanished.  Any help would be very much appreciated.

Have you used the Scotlandspeople website ?
You can seach the indexes for free , there is a death in 1989 for a Honora Grindlay(other surname Mason) Haddington East Lothian , born c1916(mother's maiden surname Muir).

Hi and welcome from me also .as ev said www.scotlandspeople .gov would be the best place to look .you could search for her marriage which will give you husbands first name ...Then check for births if it is  information on the child she gave up you might find it difficult finding information

She appears to have married as Nora Mason in 1934.

Thank you so much for the replies Rosie, Ev and Isobel. The information you have given me Isobel is awesome.  I have tried to look on ScotlandsPeople but every time I try to look at a record it requires me to use a credit and I have tried to buy credit but for whatever reason I am unable to. Not sure if that is because I am in Australia.

Honestly though, I am so grateful for the help. Nora is a relative that I have not been able to simply let go of and move on in my family tree.

Hi Donna

The baby girl you refer to is my Mum. We stumbled across this site and your post when searching for details about Nora on the Web. We are trying to piece together Mum's family and was hoping that you would be willing to maybe have a chat as we noticed you said your were a relative of Nora. Sadly mum passed away a couple of weeks ago on 4 Nov 2020.
