Hi and welcome to Rootschat,  I presume you are taking his year of birth from the 1841 census, with Elizabeth 40 and son Thomas 8, in 1841 ages were rounded down so he could be 4 years plus/minus,  in 1851 Elizabeth is 60?  Widow, the son Thomas 18 with her brother Robert Little

Topping or Toppings?  The 1841 entry was mistranscribed as Sopping but the original entry is Topping and somebody called Keith has notified an amendment confirming the surname as Topping

The death registration in 1841 is Topping
