There is a gravestone in Hamilton parish churchyard with the inscription -

"Here lies the corpse of Janet Cunningham, spouse to James Mack junior, who died 5th February 1806 aged 33 years".

The fact that James is described as "junior" implies that his father is still alive.

My parents live in Hamilton. I know the churchyard you speak of although I have never been in it. I will visit tomorrow....

Small world indeed, as you say, Cousin. John Cunningham (b. 1773, Hamilton) and Margaret Cooper were my 5th great grandparents. I don't have much documentation on Margaret Cooper (Couper) and wonder if you do. Perhaps we could share information.
