Rail bridge over water old warehouse c1911 RIVER TAMAR? ✔BUDSHEAD MILL
« on: Wednesday 21 September 16 19:52 BST (UK) »
Hello!

Any ideas please as to the location of this

Rail bridge over water, old warehouse c1911 Possibly West Country?

Another image from a small collection of Devon & Cornwall views c1911. Steam train on bridge which has six spans (visible). An extremely old stone, brick and timbered  building to the left. Could it be on the RIVER TAMAR ?

With thanks~001uk

The carriages are not identical, could they be from different train companies,   such as GWR  and others.  Does that help with dating?

Crossings of rivers by railways are always limited so this might limit the locations.  This river is quite narrow at this crossing point.

Which leads to the thought - find the crossing points of the major rivers in the area at that date.

Could be the upper reaches of the Tamar, but the number of railway crossings even before Dr Beeching came along, are limited.

Sadly not many identifying features in the photo  :-\

Looks like Plymouth's Laira rail bridge.
But can't find a photo with the building included.
