Hello

It would appear that there were four different Female HOODs at Hull & Sculcoates having children and registering Births in 1840s. Plus one HOOD having a child not registered.

HOOD, family under discussion, Jenning St, Sutton, (Sutton Reg District = Sculcoates) Birth not registered.

HOOD, with NO MOTHER Maiden Surname (Hull & Sculcoates).

HOOD, (Goldie) Mother - BAKER.

HOOD, Mother - JOHNSON.

HOOD, Mother - WILSON.

I am wondering where they married or if all were local, please?

Thomas William Hood was baptised 11 October 1846 son of Susanna Hood of Jennings Street.

It wasn't compulsory to register a birth before 1875, maybe there isn't a registration to be found.

Thomas William Hood married Emily Graburn in 1869 at Holy Trinity Hull.

He was a fisherman by trade and his father was given as Gilbert Hood, deceased.
Witnesses: George Graburn and Susanna Petherbridge ?  ?

Hello

In the 1830 - 1840s it looks like there are several Hood families in the Hull area:-

Richard HOOD & Elizabeth nee BARRETT, residing at Hull (Sutton / Myton), married 1817 at Sutton.

James Goldie HOOD & Jane nee BAKER, residing at Hessle.

The following two couples suggested, by using the early Census and Mother Maiden Surname - GRO Index:-

John HOOD (age 30) & Hannah HOOD (age 30) nee WILSON, residing Cottingham (1851).

William HOOD, Mariner (age 31) & Hannah HOOD (age 29) nee JOHNSON, residing Kingston upon Hull (1851).

(earlier John HOOD married Hannah THOMPSON at Cottingham in 1814.)

HOOD children with NO Mother Maiden surname, Districts Kingston upon Hull and Sculcoates (1844-1846).

 -----------

Ann HOOD, Niece, aged 5, born Cottingham, in a household at Beverley. Head of the family Charles TWIDDLE, Married, age 26, Tanners Labourer, born Hornsea, Yorkshire. Wife was Ann TWIDDLE, age 25, born Cottingham, Yorkshire, (1851 Census).

Regarding Hornsea I noticed that place cropping up a few times in HOOD related Census.

William HOOD, aged 25 'M.S.' in the Todd Household at Harland Wood House, Cottingham, born Yorkshire (1841 Census).

 ----------

The oldest child, Mother - WILSON found was James HOOD born Cottingham if I have correct Census - Birth District Sculcoates 1845.
The other child, Mother - WILSON was William HOOD birth registered Sculcoates 1846. Died 1847 age 0 years.
Another child, Mother - WILSON was Rebecca HOOD born Cottingham, 1849 Birth District of Sculcoates.

The oldest child, Mother - JOHNSON was William HOOD born Kingston upon Hull 1846. Birth District K upon Hull.
The other child, Mother - JOHNSON was Henry HOOD born Kingston upon Hull 1849. Birth District K upon Hull.
