What is the occupation please?
« on: Saturday 24 September 16 03:55 BST (UK) »
Could someone with sharper eyes than mine work out what the occupation is here?

It comes from the 1851 census for Charlotte Harrison, as head, at Rushton Grange in Staffordshire. The census was HO107/2003/572/22.

The image I have seen is simply too faint for me to work it out, so if any of the good people here can read it, I would be very grateful.

On the previous page to your Charlotte HARRISON, Thomas POPE looks to be an Earthenware Painter.

Your Charlotte's occupation is two words and the first looks similar to that of Thomas POPE ie earthenware...but I cannot see the second word...but might also be painter?

So, my transcription attempt would be "earthenware painter"..........flowers and butterflies on vases?

I can make out "Earthenware" but can't make out the last word

Thank you all for your help.

As she was a potter when she was 15, in the 1841 census, earthenware painter seems to be completely logical.

With okkool's assistance with the image, I can now read it the way you see it.

Again, many thanks for your help.
